(Morgan City, LA - (11-6, 7, & 8 2025)  

2025 Championship Tournament Rules

Dates: Thursday, November 6th – Saturday, November 8th, 2025
Location: Morgan City, Louisiana


General Information

  • No Entry Fee: This tournament is exclusively for qualifying anglers.

  • Format: Two-day event — total combined weight from both days determines final standings.


Who Qualifies

  • The top 50 anglers in points for the 2025 Twisted Cat Outdoors season will qualify.

  • In the event of a tie for 50th place, all anglers involved in the tie will qualify.

  • Points are based on each angler’s best 4 out of 13 events.

  • The list of qualified anglers will be posted on Facebook and at twistedcatoutdoors.com after the final event at Keystone Lake on October 25th, 2025.


Team Requirements

  • Each boat may have 1–3 members. Additional members are allowed only if they are 12 years old or younger, and the boat’s capacity is not exceeded.

  • The captain must be 18 years or older.

  • Team members must have fished in at least three (3) Twisted Cat Outdoors 2025 events to participate.

  • Anyone under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a release of liability.


Captains Meeting

  • Date: Thursday, November 6th, 2025

  • Time: 5:00–7:00 PM (Rules begin at 6:00 PM) 

  • Location: Front Street, Downtown Morgan City, LA

  • Registration: All teams must complete registration and draw their boat number at the meeting.

  • Mandatory Attendance: All teams must attend. (If a team member cannot attend, contact Alex prior to the meeting.)

  • Boats Off the Water: All boats must be off the water by 5:00 PM that day.

Fishing Rules – Morgan City, LA (Championship)

Friday

  • Boat Check & Launch: Begins at 6:00 AM from Downtown on Front Street.
    Boats will depart in numerical order as drawn Thursday night by random chip draw.

  • Fishing Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Weigh-In: Must be in line by 4:00 PM

Saturday

  • Boat Check & Launch: Begins at 6:00 AM from Downtown on Front Street.
    Day 2 takeoff will be based on Day 1 standings, with the leading team launching first.

  • Fishing Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • Weigh-In: Must be in line by 4:00 PM


Fish & Equipment Rules

  • Fish Limit: 3 fish per team — no size limit.

  • Eligible Species: Blue Cat, Channel Cat, and Flathead.

  • Fishing Method: Rod and reel only.

    • Maximum of 6 rods in use at one time per boat.

    • No limit on the number of rods carried in the boat.

  • All fish must be alive to be weighed.

  • Prohibited:

    • No chumming or baiting of fishing areas before or during the tournament.

    • No fishing or netting outside the boat.

    • No use of stringers, decoy bags, or snagging.

    • No trotlines, jugs, limblines, or commercial fishing methods of any kind within 14 days (2 weeks) of the event.

    • No foul-hooked or dead fish will be accepted.


Bait & Livewell Requirements

  • Bait: All legal bait, dead or alive, is permitted (must follow state law).

  • Livewell: A livewell is required and must be capable of keeping fish alive and healthy.

    • Recommended minimum capacity: 50 gallons.

    • The tournament director will have the final determination on livewell adequacy.

    • Teams may be removed from the tournament if their livewell is deemed insufficient.

    • Oxygen systems are highly recommended.


Tournament Conduct

  • Maintain a minimum distance of 50 yards between boats while anchored and 50 feet while drifting.

  • The use of alcohol or drugs is prohibited during tournament hours.

  • Teams may possess a maximum of three (3) fish in the livewell at one time. Culling must occur immediately when a fourth fish enters the boat.

  • All state and federal laws must be followed.


Check-In Procedure

  • A chip will be issued at the captains meeting and must be turned in by the cutoff time.

  • If a team loses its chip, they must personally check in with the tournament director before the cutoff time.


Weigh-In & Fish Handling

  • All fish must be returned to the same body of water after the weigh-in.

  • Polygraphs may be administered to winners. Any team member refusing or failing the test will be disqualified.


Protests

  • All protests must be submitted in writing to the tournament director before the awards ceremony begins.


Weather Policy

  • Twisted Cat Outdoors reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or modify any event due to adverse weather or water conditions.


Tie Breakers

  • In the event of a tie, the team with the single largest fish weight will be declared the winner.


Waiver / Release of Liability

  • By entering this tournament, all participants agree to the Twisted Cat Outdoors Waiver and Release of Liability.


Amendments

  • Twisted Cat Outdoors reserves the right to amend or change rules at any time for safety or other necessary reasons.
